Polyeco Group was awarded a contract for the management of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) equipment and waste in Lebanon through an international tendering procedure. The project is funded by the World Bank and executed by the Ministry of Environment. The project aims at the sustainable disposal of out-of- service equipment containing PCBs owned by the Electricité Du Liban (EDL), the main electricity supplier in Lebanon.
The scope of work assigned to Polyeco Group is the environmentally sound management of all indentified out-of- service PCB based equipment owned by the EDL at various sites. Tasks include drainage, dismantling, packaging, transport, storage and disposal of the PCB waste. Disposal will be conducted in licensed hazardous waste facilities in the EU, in compliance with the Basel Convention and EU Regulations.
