Polyeco Group has been awarded a contract for the management of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) equipment and waste in Montenegro, through an international tendering procedure. The project is part of a GEF financed Project entitled “Comprehensive Environmentally Sound Management of PCBs” being undertaken in Montenegro with United Nations Development Programme acting as the GEF Implementing Agency.
The project aims at the environmentally sound disposal of approximately 216 tons of PCB contaminated oil, electrical equipment and solid waste owned by industrial companies. Tasks include collection, packaging, transport, storage and disposal of the PCB waste. Final disposal will be conducted in licensed hazardous waste facilities in EU, in compliance with the Basel Convention and EU Regulations.
The project shall contribute to the fulfillment of the country’s targets in the context of the Stockholm Convention.
