Polyeco Group has been awarded a contract for the management of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) equipment and waste in Lebanon, through an international tendering procedure. The project is funded by the World Bank and executed by the Ministry of Environment.
The project aims at the environmentally sound disposal of approximately 230 tons of out-of- service equipment containing PCBs owned by the Electricité Du Liban (EDL), the main electricity supplier in Lebanon. Tasks include drainage, dismantling, packaging, transport, storage and disposal of the PCB waste. Final disposal will be conducted in licensed hazardous waste facilities in EU, in compliance with the Basel Convention and EU Regulations.
The project shall contribute to the fulfillment of the country’s targets in the context of the Stockholm Convention.
